Yin Tang

Yin Tang (Hall of Expression)

This point is categorised as extraordinary points which means it is not part of any particular meridian and stands on its own. Yin Tang is located between the eyebrows and is associated with the third eye and pineal gland. This correlates to TICM as this is a great point to calm our Spirit, which we refer to as our Shen/Ruh, and help symptoms like insomnia, anxiety, stress and agitation. Our pineal gland synthesises and secretes melatonin, so this point is great to stimulate in order to regulate melatonin, i.e. decreasing lethargy and depression. More uses: Benefit the nose, opening nasal congestion, sinusitis, rhinitis, and pain Alleviates pain and headache, head heaviness Builds Qi during Qigong Helps eye wrinkles Help control addictions to food, alcohol and smoking Stimulate this point with the edge of your gua sha tool or top of your finger for 2-3 minutes when needed. Take deep breaths.

Note: if your mind needs calming from stress, overthinking, insomnia etc, stimulate the point clockwise. However, if you have things such as nasal congestion, sinusitis, pain etc, stimulate it anti-clockwise otherwise if you do it clockwise, you may further exacerbate your condition.
