San Qi



This traditional herb is so revered that the 1578 Compendium of Materia Medica (the most complete and comprehensive medical book ever written in the history of traditional Chinese Medicine referred to San Qi as more precious than gold. Ginseng is one well-known adaptogen, and Asian ginseng (Panax ginseng) is considered by many to be the most potent. A study found that this herb helped reduce the ulcer index, adrenal gland weight, blood glucose levels, triglycerides, and other stress related hormones. The scientists concluded that it “possesses significant anti-stress properties and can be used for the treatment of stress-induced disorders (1])”. Ischemic means that an organ (e.g. the Heart) is not getting enough blood and oxygen. Ischemic heart disease, also called coronary heart disease (CHD) or coronary artery disease, is the term given to heart problems caused by narrowed heart (coronary) arteries that supply blood to the heart muscle. The herb has been observed to have several beneficial effects in patients with different stages of CAD (coronary artery disease) (2). It is used for its cardiovascular and Blood and circulation support. Panax notoginseng is a species of the genus Panax, and it is commonly referred to in English as Notoginseng. In Chinese medicine we call it San Qi or Tian Qi. In Latin, the word panax means cure all.
