Kidney stones

Kidneys are the most important organs in the human body. The Kidneys help to detox and filter impurities from the blood, pulling waste products out, regulating fluid balance, regulate blood pressure, responsible for fertility and start the formation of blood making just to name a few things.

Kidney stones are a solid piece of material that forms in the Kidney out of substances in the urine. They are made up of concentrates such as oxalate, calcium and phosphorus. It happens when minerals in the body combine with other substances and accumulate in the small ducts and tissues of the organ.

Kidney stones form when the Kidneys are not able to process and excrete waste, excess minerals, and toxins and crystals of unprocessed minerals begin to develop, eventually they form a thick sludge, and then stones. Kidney stones, if they are large enough, may cause tearing and pain, some even block urine flow.

In TICM, many factors can contribute to Kidney stones and there are several types of stones and patterns to look for in a detailed diagnosis unlike western medicine where one shoe size fits all.
