Heart & Uterus connection
In TICM, it is the Heart that determines behaviour and not the brain. This is further determined to be accurate through the known connection between emotions and hormonal balance. Let's take a closer look at how the Heart and the uterus are connected.
Bao mai is a channel that is known as the Uterus Vessel. This channel crosses the Stomach and is how the Heart and Uterus communicate with one another. The Heart is particularly susceptible to emotional stress such as anxiety, which in turn can affect the health and receptivity of the Uterus.
Every month the Blood comes down from the Heart through the Bao Mai Vessel and settles into the Uterus, allowing the Uterus to nourish an embryo. From there, the Uterus channel connects to the Kidneys. This special connection is the relationship for birth, hormones, emotional balance, pelvic health and menstruation, which is why TICM puts such an emphasis on the Heart, Uterus and Kidney relationship for women's health. This is also why I am constantly telling all my patients regardless whether they are male or female to keep their feet warm at all times and NEVER walk on cold surfaces such as tiles and wooden floors. Australians and South Africans have a very bad habit which makes me cringe every time I see them walking bare feet outside whatever the weather. In London, I used to live opposite a South African who would walk bare feet in the snow and even though I would scream at him, he would never listen. He is paying the price now with both his Kidneys, Prostrate and Heart.
The Bao Mai must be unblocked and free flowing for period and pregnancy to occur. If this vessel is blocked, painful periods, PMS and infertility can easily manifest.
Similar to the cause of stagnation are stress, excess emotions, over-exertion and a diet heavy in cold food and drinks can create blockages that lead to irregular periods, PMS.
