Ginger

In TICM, we do not draw a distinction between food & medicine. Therefore, food can be your medicine or it can be your slow poison.

My love for ginger is quite obvious. I eat it daily and now I have purchased a dehydrator to begin making my own dehydrated ginger powder, tinctures and immunity shots. Medical research has become fascinated with this ancient root, and continue to study it extensively to understand the manner of its biological actions.

Ginger provides anti-oxidant, anti-microbial, anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory support. It helps in the treatment of cancer, hypertension, diabetes, excess weight and the common cold and so much more.

Evidence from in vitro, animal, and epidemiological studies suggest that ginger and its active constituents suppress the growth and induce apoptosis of variety of cancer types including skin, ovarian, colon, breast, cervical, oral, renal, prostate, gastric, pancreatic, Liver, and brain cancer. These properties of ginger and its constituents could be associated with antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, and antimutagenic properties as well as other biological activities.

In TICM, ginger nourishes the body's Yang (warm/sun) energy which is easily depleted in our modern day lifestyles. Lifestyle factors such as poor diet, overexertion, overwork, drugs, alcohol, poor sleeping habits, emotional imbalances and stress deplete our precious Yang (warm/sun) energy.
