Genetic screening tests are NOT accurate
Of the tests that come back positive, an average of 99.99% will be wrong. A positive result can lead to stress and anxiety, further invasive and unnecessary testing, and, even worse, decisions that are made that cannot be taken back.
These early blood tests are simply screens that require follow up testing to be diagnostic, but women are not that fact. This can lead some to terminate their pregnancy thinking they had no choice because their baby was doomed and would never survive.
Women are also never told the true accuracy of this testing, so they believe their results to be fact. The companies who make these tests make billions of dollars per year, and are not regulated, so there is no incentive to do better.
