Fertility mineral

There have been numerous studies done through IVF clinics and hospitals that have shown incredible results when it comes to treating magnesium deficiency among infertile women. Unfortunately, magnesium levels are not a common enough tested mineral when treating infertility, but in TICM we know this mineral's importance for both male and female fertility.

Magnesium is responsible for over 700 biochemical reactions in every human body along with critical functioning for the Liver, Gallbladder and digestive system. Look at the previous post the power of magnesium for all the wonder this mineral does.

The Liver is responsible for the flow of Blood, therefore it's of great importance for the uterus and pregnancy. Stress is the emotion that impacts the Liver the most and causes severe imbalance. When the Liver is not functioning properly, it leads to menstrual problems and fertility issues. Healthy levels of magnesium are vital for reproductive health.

The reason magnesium is so important not only in fertility but in pregnancy is because it greatly impacts hormones and cortisol. Cortisol is our body's main stress hormone. Stress depletes magnesium and on the flip side, a deficiency in magnesium causes cortisol levels to rise. This imbalance causes other hormones to spike or dip and therefore causes imbalances in yin and yang for our organs. When cortisol spikes your insulin levels increase, dropping your blood sugar. When blood sugar drops symptoms experienced are nausea and vomiting also known as morning sickness.

Magnesium is stored mostly on a cellular level, making it hard to test for levels through blood. Because of the quality of our soil, we unfortunately cannot rely on it for a decent supply of minerals like we used to. Magnesium can be taken orally or applied topically through magnesium lotions and gels. I have recently been eating bentonite clay for my magnesium as well as rubbing oil on my lower abdomen for a peaceful night sleep.
