Emotions

Emotions and sickness

HEART Emotion: JOY. Overexcitement to the point of agitation can harm the Heart system. Caffeine, nicotine, prescription drugs and recreational, technology, the always busy lifestyle, alcohol, sex, and overstimulation. When joy consists of contentment, it promotes free and smooth flowing Qi and a happy Heart. LUNG Emotion: GRIEF. Unresolved grief or sadness which becomes chronic affects the Lungs. This weakens, depletes, or dissolves the Qi (energy) and can lead to asthma, chronic cough, shortness of breath and frequent colds and flu. LIVER Emotion: ANGER. In excess it can completely hinder one's health as it is often rooted by wanting to attain control. The Liver loves flexibility, so control hurts it. This leads to frustration. Physically, it results in migraines, headaches, PMS, red face, dizziness, stroke, raised Blood pressure, IBS symptoms. KIDNEY Emotion: FEAR. Qi (energy) descends the body, correlating to that sinking feeling you feel if you've ever been really scared, or feeling like you have no control of your Bladder. Fear is adaptive but if it becomes chronic then an imbalance begins, and one may feel emotions like no willpower, insecurity, aloofness, and isolation. SPLEEN Emotion: WORRY/OVERTHINKING. Digesting the same thought over and over taxes the Spleen. It becomes unable to do its primary job of digesting food, leading to an accumulation of fluids and dampness, weighing you down physically, mentally, and emotionally. Worry stagnates or knots the Qi and depletes Blood. This leads to a weakened digestion creating digestive issues, brain fog, and can be a vicious cycle which creates anxiety and feelings like you are out of control.
