Chives & Kidney Boost


Chinese chives also known as garlic chives have been around for more than 4,000 years and native to southwestern China. As the name implies, they are known for their subtle garlic flavor.


In TICM, they are categorised as a warming food in nature with a pungent taste, entering the Stomach, Liver and Kidney meridians. The warming essence of the chives promotes digestion and circulation, which is wonderful for the metabolism. They also have the ability to nourish and purify blood. Healthy blood is essential for our proper functioning in all ways.


Chinese chives are especially beneficial to eat to eat if you suffer from cold limbs, diarrhoea, impotence, joint pain, poor appetite and Stomach aches from cold nature. In TICM they positively impact people who suffer from Kidney deficiency. Kidney deficiency can arise with symptoms like difficulty urinating, water retention in calves and feet and impotence or infertility.


Chives are rich in calcium, copper, iron, magnesium, vitamins A, B, C, K, and zinc. They can be stir fried and consumed as a vegetable or in salad dressings, soups and garnishes. A delicious way to consume them is scrambled with eggs.
