Adenomyosis

Adenomyosis is a condition in which the inner lining of the uterus breaks through the muscle wall of the uterus. This condition can cause menstrual cramps, lower abdominal pressure, bloating before periods and heavy periods. More symptoms can include weight gain, having trouble conceiving, extreme bloating and constipation. Many women who suffer from adenomyosis also suffer from endometriosis.

From the TICM perspective, the condition usually means that the patient requires more warmth to the uterus, works on combating inflammation and rebalancing hormones. For Western treatments, one is usually given anti-inflammatory drugs, pain relievers, and hormone medication. The hormone medication will cause further disruption and stagnate and congeal the blood further.

In TICM we work to solve the root cause to prevent the multiple symptoms and to regain balance internally.

You should see your TICM doctor who can do a combination of Hijama and acupuncture to ease pain by dispersing stagnation of the blood. They will also prescribe herbal medicine for you to take at home to support healthy blood flow in order to create harmonious menstruation. You should also do the following to help yourself:

- Drink ginger powder tea.

- Cut out dairy, refined sugars and all foods that cause inflammation.

- Keep the uterus warm by eating bone broths, soups, congee, steamed vegetables.

- Keep the uterus and lower back warm with heat patches, how water bottles, maternity belts or hot water bottle.

Cut out using hormones and toxins in foods and lifestyle such as aluminum deodorants, air fresheners, cleaning products.
